7 reasons Nigerians want you to get married

This days the way you just see people advising their friends and family members to get married is alarming. At least back in the days they usually waited till you got to a certain age before they started disturbing you. These days they will even tell a sixteen years old boy that he should be getting ready to be married, as maturity is not just by age.

The marriage bug is getting higher as is the divorce rate but no one cares about the statistics all they care about is that you get married. Since I was kinda confused about why people kept urging others to get married I started asking questions and these where the reasons I could uncover.

  1. Party jollof rice: When I heard this reason I laughed and laughed. Anyway sha we all know party jollofrice is bae. But as person nor fit waka come tell you say make person die for una family so that e go chop jollof rice, dem go push you go marry.

  2. Free gbedu: All those our bobos and babes wen dey like socialize and shake their body, the prefer to do it at a wedding where they don't have to buy their drinks and they get to pickup girls and guys.

  3. Find a partner: Many Nigerians go to wedding in hopes of attracting a a wife or husband.

  4. No Gifts: it's no secret that these days 80% percent of wedding guests don't present gifts. All they bring to you wedding is their self and their empty stomach. Some even come with big bags to cart away extra food and drinks. The Yoruba's are kings in this area, u can never win them.

  5. Ideas: Most people pushing others to get married are doing it just to get ideas for when they have to plan their own wedding or a wedding of someone close to them. They come to your wedding and steal ideas, snapping pictures and asking other guests their opinion on certain decors.

Mockery: Believe it or not most Nigerians come to your wedding just to pick on everything you did. As monitoring spirits there is nothing they would not survey. They are the there to pick on all the aspects that didn't really come out nice. They complain about the looks of the wedding party, the groom's shoes, the brides gown and makeup, the food selection, the sound system and every other aspects they can get their eyes on.

  6. Asoebi : Nigerians use marriages as an avenue to gather materials for their natives. The funniest part is that most of them won't even wear it to the wedding.

  7. To network: If it's a marriage that some influential people will be at then if it's not strictly by invite expect a large turn out. All those self employed people will just use your wedding as an opportunity to canvass for clients and investors.
